Cali Girl in NYC

I've lived in California for 24 years, and decided to move clear across the country for law school. this will be where all can come to laugh at me as i die in the humidity and freeze in the snow as my california body adjusts to life in new york city...through this blog, i hope to have everyone else suffer just a little with me as i make my way through law school

calm the FRICK down

geez people. i dont always feel like sharing my thoughts...however. now that my torts prof has complained about the lack of posts, i am going to take that as free license to set aside my torts reading for wednesday and blog instead. i suppose i have to have priorities...

okay. so, many of you read summer's blog, which makes me feel incredibly redundant, but, i suppose i could put my own spin on things. but, as a warning, im tired, and not feeling very creative, so dont expect much.

so, summer got here last friday. i had planned on having my apartment cleaned and all of my homework completed before she got here at 8am friday morning. well....that wish didnt exactly pan out. so, i spoke with her when her plan landed around 730 on friday morning, which meant that i had until about 9am for her to get to my apartment. which means i had to get my ass out of bed and clean. and my apartment was TRASHED! and i had gone out the night before, and getting up and moving around was the last thing i wanted to do. and, i know she probably wouldnt care how messy i am, but i feel like i need to clean for company. so, i did. and then she got here and we both went back to sleep, with gilmore girls in the background. oh gilmore girls, how i once loved thee...moment of silence for the wonderfulness it once was...

aaaaand, we're back. okay, so, let me think. what did we do that friday? oh RIGHT! so, we met up with casey, and headed down to schnack for some beer shakes, french fries, and burger shooters (veggie for those of us-me-that dont eat meat). it was all happiness, until the bill came. we ACCIDENTALLY didnt leave enough for the tip, adn the friggin waiter comes back over--and, let me just say, the service wasnt exactly all that great. i had to wait almost 10 minutes, and then almost threw my back out waving the guy down just to get a glass of water--and says something to the effect of, "were you guys not pleased with teh service?" and we said it was fine, and he responded that we hadnt left him enough of a tip. are you serious???? i mean, thats not okay. there are more tactful ways to go about that. ick. anyway, that put a slight damper on the afternoon. my friend chris, his roommate graham, and graham's girlfriend kristina were coming to meet us, but we left before they got there because we didnt want to sit there any longer. we ran into that group on the corner, and they went on to have their beer shakes, and we went to buck's lodge to olay some BIG BUCK HUNTER!! hooowaah!!! my god i think im addicted to that game. we played that for a while, adn then chris came and met up wtih us there. summer then left to meet up with her brother to grab some dinner adn go salsa dancing or something. chris, casey, and i headed up to soho together to see my cousin christopher, who was also in town that weekend. we met up at sweet and vicious, which is a fun little lounge-ish type bar. the four of us hung out for a bit, adn then matt came and met up with us, fresh from an awkward date. then, erin came and met us. then mike and his friend chuck. and summer and justin showed up eventually, too, although justin left soon after. we all hung out there for a while, talking and having fun, before the boys decided that they wanted to go dancing. so, where to go with three gay guys, three straight guys, adn two (erin left) girls? why, mr. black, of course!! it was actually really fun. casey was having fun because he kept getting hit on by gay guys....well, he was being stand-offish at first (he is dating someone) but then he realized that he could get free drinks and...well...yeah. christopher kept running off places, so i assume he was having fun. we ran into another friend from school, ted, and his boyfriend, so we talked to him for a while. eventually, chris was ready to go to sleep, so he, summer, and i hopped on the subway back to brooklyn and we all headed home to sleep.

okay. so, that was day one. and now i have to go get ready to meet up with some people. there is your fix. maybe i will write more tomorrow instead of finsihing my torts reading....hmmm...

Harry from Schnack here. We apologize. Waiters are trained that if they are for whatever reason un-happy with the gratuity their only recourse is to ask how the service was as in, “did you have any problems with the service.” The waiter should never go beyond that; I’m sorry that our waiter didn’t follow the training.
