Cali Girl in NYC

I've lived in California for 24 years, and decided to move clear across the country for law school. this will be where all can come to laugh at me as i die in the humidity and freeze in the snow as my california body adjusts to life in new york city...through this blog, i hope to have everyone else suffer just a little with me as i make my way through law school

hey, phil...if you're gonna spew....

holy excessive amounts of food....i honestly think i might hurl.
but before i get to that!!

so, i didnt get very far in summer's visit...so, the next morning, we got up and went to brunch with my friend mike in chelsea at elmo's, where we enjoyed visions of beautiful gay men...and had really good food. sum and i both got this tex-mex egg dish...but, at this particular moment, thinking about food kinda makes me nauseous....so you dont get details. maybe another time...
from there, we went and did some shopping with mike at H&M and dsw for....LAW SCHOOL PROM!! yay!!!

my friend kristen came over to my apartment to get dressed, and we had a girls-getting ready for prom fun time. walking around in our underwear, trying on different dresses, doing makeup...fun fun. then, kristen left to go hang out with a boy, and sum and i went to a new-ish friend of mine's pre-prom party at his apartment in park slope. then we headed off to prom--at the most unbelieveably gaudy place in the world. and it was really weird--the SECOND i walked into the building, i literally felt like i was back in highschool again. and by back in highschool, i mean, all of a sudden i got really uncomfortable and insecure. it was weird...
we had a little bit of fun at teh beginning, and then we decided to get a drink. there were four bars, four bartenders (total) and they werent actually bartenders but events workers, and over 500 people. add those up and you dont get quick bar service. we waited in line for about 40 mintues, not movining because people kept cutting in front, and then we finally cut in front of people. of course, by the time i ordered my drinks they were out of all cups except for those tiny dessert goblets that hold like two tiny sips of liquor. and the idiot bartender guy tried to fill both my glasses with ice (i was GOING to get gin and tonics--thats right, plural, because there was no way i was going to order ONE drink and then have to wait in line for anotehr hour to get another drink). but i stopped him. and then he realized he was out of tonic. and lime juice. and limes. so, i got two glasses of gin. which i couldnt actually drink because it was so gross. so, we spent a couple hours talking to people and kinda half-assed dancing before i heard the AMAZING NEWS: they had put out buckets of beer!! finally!! so, i chugged a few of those , and suddenly! prom was fun!

so, sum left that tuesday, and i went crazy with school stuff. then, this past monday, my friend from college, shannon, who i actually hadnt seen in three years came to town. so, i met up with her an dher brother for lunch, then we walked around the village for a while before going to the bodies exhibit. it was REALLY interesting. shannon and her brother then went to philly and DC and got back to nyc today, so i met up with them for dinner.
and that is why i feel nauseous. i ate an AMAZING veggie burger, half a salad, some plaintain, a helluva lot of cheese fries, a beer, and this meringue dessert thing.

and now the food coma/diabetes is kicking in and im getting tired. suppose its time for bed...sorry this post is dull
