Cali Girl in NYC

I've lived in California for 24 years, and decided to move clear across the country for law school. this will be where all can come to laugh at me as i die in the humidity and freeze in the snow as my california body adjusts to life in new york city...through this blog, i hope to have everyone else suffer just a little with me as i make my way through law school

Reindeer Arm Wrestling

It's amusing...i got to the second round and then lost...

HERE!

you know you're acclimating to NYC when...

you can sit in the back of a cab with a cabbie who speaks and understands perfect english and have an otherwise incredibly private, personal, potentially embarassing conversation with someone and just not give a crap that the guy is listening to you...

and, no. you don't get to know what i was talking about. =)

i SWEAR im studying

this is awesome! go check out the best of craigs list. some of it is HILARIOUS, some of it is sad, some of it is just weird...enjoy!

ps. my favorite is called "Thank you jennifer" or something like that

civil procedure

one can really get bored reading cases regarding the rules of civil procedure. until you come to a line like, oh, i dont know, "you could gag a maggot off a meat wagon."

and thats my favorite line out of my casebook today.

one down....

i've never felt more exhausted than i did last night/this morning....you really dont realize how much energy it takes to throw yourself into constant studying and stressing, and then to have a crazy adrenaline rush for three and a half hours....im just a wreak!

so. contracts. i feel like i did decently, but at the same time, who really knows? alex and i spent the morning figuring out the curve in the class, and the only positive thing is that the majority of students (65%) will get a B. that's also kinda negative, though, because it's better to stand ABOVE teh majority. but, honestly, give me that B and i will be THRILLED at this point.

its always stressful to talk about an exam once its finished, because people say things that they did that you didnt do, but you cant go back and edit! so, talking to all my friends about one question, they all put something, but i didnt even realize it, but i talked about something else, so it might be okay. or talking to another friend who put the complete OPPOSITE of what teh majority of the people put...you just never know! and we dont know how the teacher is going to grade!

oh goodness! if you all think my spelling/typing is bad here on my blog ("teh") you shouldve seen my typing on the exam!!! i did it on the computer using a special Word program that locks your computer so you cant open any other applications (to bar people from looking stuff up on the internet). it is basically MS Word, with a few slight differences. for example, there is no friggin spell check! so, when im typing a paper i rely on spell check to catch my mistakes. couple that with being on a time limit and having an insane amount of information to add in, my typing is just crazy! i went back and read a couple of sentences, and you could get the jist of what i meant, the words just werent really in a cohesive order...mitsake, conisderation, etc ("mistake" "consideration").

but its done. and now i have to rally and start cramming for civ pro. but im exhausted and i just cant seem to get into it yet....maybe in another hour after i have some lunch...

ill be home in a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah law school!!

fyi, for friends and family:
my first final is a week away. in fact, in exactly one week, i will be 2.5 hours into my 3 hour final. on that note, my body has already given up sleep to take on the all-consuming task of cramming as much information as i can inside my head.
i think the most entertaining thing i have in my notes is called "2 Yiddish Theories of Consideration." and one of those theories is called "bupkes." that amuses me to no end..
anywho, i just wanted to write that with one week left before my first final, and two weeks left before my second (and last!) final, and two weeks and one day before i COME HOME, i have entered into a world of crazy psychosis (great spelling, eh?) of no sleep, bad eating habits, and hysteria ranging from talking to myself, laughing like an idiot for BEING an idiot and talking to myself, to exhaustion, to having fun outlining, to being bored out of my mind...ah, the joys of a manic, rambling blog...
ill read this in two weeks and wont even remember that i wrote it...

since IM freezing....

so, i dont know if this company is ACTUALLY donating money, but go here and make a snowflake!!!

study break!!

so, here i am, 1230 am. i just took some nyquil (i have a *slight* cold and am trying to kill it as fast as i can--its going quite slowly actually--so i am not sick the next two weeks....the dreaded FINALS WEEKS!!!!). im slowly getting loopy, and i though, what better time to stop studying and start taking PICTURES!!?
well, also, im not sure if i mentioned this before, but i love dave matthews. no. seriously. LOVE HIM. and this year...well, this was the first year in almost TEN YEARS that i havent seen him live. i first saw him when i was 15...with my friend blair. and peter was there (if you dont know then im not going to tell you). and so were all the other boys that i had a crush on when i was 15. that first dave concert...excuse me as i sob silently in the background.
anyway, since i didnt get to go, and summer went to two (cough cough WHORE cough), she was nice enough to buy me a shirt (if she had REALLY loved me, she would have paid for me to fly home to see him, adn then fly back to new york. dude, i wouldve paid for the concert ticket!). she just sent me the shirt today, and honestly, i cant tell you what its like coming home into my building, out of the TWENTY SIX DEGREE weather (granted, when i came in three hours ago, it was probably more like thirty) to a nice warm building and...a package!! yeah! so i rip it open (well, "rip" is exaggerating. there really isnt much dexterity when your fingers are numb through your gloves!) and there is a dave shirt! i must say, i think, outside of the fire dancer, i really love this print! and now you can see it, too!!

and now, this is just me having fun with the camera, procrastinating against studying...

i FINALLY got my pictures onto my computer! (i found the right cord!!!!) so! here goes!!

first up! bradley and frank came to see me!! (not really to see *me* but they were in new york so they came to brooklyn to see me!) this is a turkish restaurant. apparently, brad and frank both got food poisoning from it. i was fine. in fact, i had left over which i ate a day later and was just as good! canadians...

This is sara's birthday. thats sara. =)

okay. now. i want you to click on this picture to make it larger. then look at my face. i dont know WHAT is going on, but it looks like a) i have on tammy faye baker makeup, and b) i have lip injections. its actually pretty funny!

i'm sorry, but arent we just the cutest people EVER? thats matt, sara, and me!

for all the gg fans out there

im sorry, but i have never seen a better opening scene than this! and, i promise, if you replay it a bunch of times, it will make you feel a LOT better about the current goings-ons on the show.
